Mike Bonney and Pat Kirby, executive director of Citizen Schools Massachusetts, co-authored an article for CommonWealth Magazine, called "Tap colleges, firms for STEM educators," that explores ways to enlist STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) professionals around the country to help close the STEM achievement gap between students in the U.S. and those in other developed countries. Mike and Pat cite the recent success of Citizen Schools as an example, and reason that such effort would benefit not only the K-12 children of today, but also companies looking to hire the well-qualified employees of tomorrow.

Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: CBST) announced on May 19th, 2009 that it was
ranked first among the "Top 100" Massachusetts-based publicly traded companies
by The Boston Globe in its 21st annual "Globe 100" listing. Cubist is only the third life sciences company in Massachusetts
to appear at the top of the Globe 100 rankings, and as a company that researches,
develops, and brings to market pharmaceutical products, is the first of its
kind to achieve this distinction.
